What is CoQ10?

CoQ10 or Coenzyme Q10, also known as ubiquinone 10, was first studied in the fifties. It was described as a chemical compound found naturally in the human body. It is used by the body for various cell functions, including illness prevention. CoQ10 not only aids basic cellular function but also functions as an antioxidant. It prevents the formation of free radicals, which destroy healthy cells and cause disease and aging.

It has been reported that the amount of natural CoQ10 in the body are less in the elderly and in patients with autoimmune diseases like cancer and HIV/AIDS. This may be a contributing factor to chronic diseases and illnesses associated with aging.

Many factors lead to the decline of CoQ10 levels in the body, including smoking, exposure to pollution, and the ingestion of certain prescription drugs and processed foods. Taking CoQ10 products as food supplements replaces the lost CoQ10 in the body and contributes to better health and results in various health benefits.

Cardiovascular Health

Natural CoQ10 levels decrease with aging. For people suffering from heart-related conditions, dietary supplementation is a great way to promote better cardiovascular function and health. One of the advantages of CoQ10 is it increases the body's efficiency in using oxygen, which naturally lowers blood pressure and cholesterol levels. This increases energy by allowing the body to better convert nutrients into usable fuel. This makes CoQ10 useful for the following cardiovascular conditions:

  • High Cholesterol
  • High Blood Pressure
  • Atherosclerosis
  • Congestive Heart Failure
  • Coronary Artery Disease
  • Angina
  • Arrhythmias
  • Mitral Valve Prolapse

Immunity

Because of its ability to remove bacteria from the blood and improve white cell count, CoQ10 is known to prevent infections like the common cold or flu virus. Likewise, patients with serious autoimmune disorders like fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome and lupus report less pain and inflammation and exhibit higher energy levels with CoQ10 supplementation.

Cancer Treatment

In 1961, a study discovered that cancer patients had diminished CoQ10 levels. Further research suggests that CoQ10 use for cancer treatment result in pain reduction, tumor shrinkage, and even incidences of partial and full remission.

Aging

Its antioxidant properties make CoQ10 a great natural anti-aging solution. By destroying free radicals, it gives the body increased vitality and renews cells that have been damages by the aging process. According to a published scientific study, CoQ10 also prevents skeletal degeneration by improving the communication between genes and body cells.
